Something new

I got a bit tired working on the boxcars, so started another small idea that I got while grocery
shopping. A hand of red bananas jumped out in front of me in the store and said," Paint me!"
They were beautiful! I promptly put them in the basket and proceeded to watch them for a couple
of days, not really having time to start anything new. Finally, after I decided they would soon not
look so good, I took several photos--then ate two of them!  ( delicious)  Here is the painting so far: a quarter sheet and pretty well on its way.

      The best made plans,,,etc.
I have begun a new painting, which has since been sidelined for a few days while I paint the bathroom. ( I have just two doors left to do)  However, I have posted the progress as far as I have gone below.

The going is a bit slow also because these are really old boxcars and my photo was not as detailed as I would have liked. So, to get them as correct as possible I spent several hours of research on what type of trucks (undercarriage) were on them so I could see more exactly what I should be painting. I am sure that a few railroad buffs will find some mistakes, but I have chosen some " artistic license" with some items--color for one. Most boxcars were painted  red due to the inexpensive red oxide pigment available at that time. Most of the yellow cars were "reefers"- refrigerator cars that had double hinged doors,   versus sliding doors.
I  hope you enjoy the process, however long it takes. For those interested in more technical info,
the paper is Arches 140# cold press and the paints usually Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith, and some Holbein colors. I use inexpensive Simmons brushes, with a couple of sable fine liners.
